We have at our disposal all of the same tools used to create the finest golf courses and athletic fields in the world.

Our wholesale seed vendors stock the highest scoring turf varieties from the most recent National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) trials – varieties that are not available from your local mass retailers. We regularly evaluate our practices in response from the latest research and recommendations from the universities.

The bottom line: when we install turf for you it will have better color, texture, drought & pest resistance, wear resistance, and require less maintenance.

Seed vs. Sod

Sod offers the benefit of an instant lawn. It is beautiful and provides erosion resistance right away. Sod is highly perishable (it must be installed within 24-48 hours of harvest). Watering must be thorough, immediate, and fairly regular until the sod has rooted in and begun top growth. Many professionals believe that it doesn’t yield as high quality lawn as does seed.

Use of seed allows the customization of the lawn to its environment and maintenance considerations. Seed blends can be adjusted for time of the year, exposure to sunlight, soil conditions, availability of water, and other environmental factors. We can adjust the type and variety of seed for maintenance requirements that may depend upon the physical demands being placed upon it, as well as for mowing, fertilization, pest control inputs, and other horticultural factors. Liabilities include the length of time for establishment, especially when seeding is not done in the prime season of early fall. Watering also must be plentiful to keep the seed bed constantly moist but not too soggy. Use of straw may be a nuisance in landscaped areas.
